Your office breakroom may be the most important space in your office for employees. It’s the epicenter where employees can hang out during breaks to eat and snack. It also serves as a gathering place for employees.
Your breakroom sees it all: food prep, snack time, holiday parties. Shouldn’t you do all that you can to keep your office breakroom as clean as possible? Use these best practices for making your company breakroom as sparkling clean and naturally green as possible. A commercial cleaning company like Executive Image has experience in maintaining large commercial breakrooms.
Kick the “cleaning with harsh chemicals” habit. Since we are living on this planet -use green chemicals that won’t harm the environment or your employees. Natural green cleaning products can be more affordable that you think! You can also make your own natural clean with two low-cost ingredients: baking soda and vinegar.
Care for your sink drains. To prevent gunk buildup, give your drain a weekly pick-me-up. We’ll even give you a choice of scents. Pour ½ cup of baking soda and ½ cup of vinegar down the drain. Let it sit for 20 minutes or more. Once time is up, pour in boiling water to flush it all out.
Be smart about running water. Replace your old, inefficient faucet with a hands-free faucet which has a motion sensor to reduce contact with germs.
Clean microwaves by steaming the inside with a cup of water. It is easy to clean a soiled microwave, just place a cup of water in a coffee mug or glass of water, bring the water to a boil and then wipe clean the interior space.
Clean your containers. Stains on food storage containers can be removed using a baking soda paste made with water or lemon juice.
Gear up for green on-the-go. Go green and encourage employees to carry reusable water bottles and lunch boxes. Less trash in garbage cans reduces trash in landfills.
Chemical-free floors. For tile floors, mop with ½ cup of baking soda and a bucket of warm water or try a gallon of water with a quarter cup vinegar for ceramic, linoleum and vinyl floors.
Declutter your cabinets and drawers. Clean out what you don’t need and share with someone who does. Donate unwanted items.
Don’t forget the trash can.
Use the correct size trash can liners to properly fit the trash cans, if you use oversized trash bags, they not only cost more, but also waste materials.
